Kuraka (self-titled) - Kuraka

UKHU 003
In their first production, Kuraka plays with irregular rhythms in 6/8 and 12/8, where the Sanjuanito from Imbabura, the Bambuco, and the Afro-Choteño Andarele blend with harmonies and timbres that expand their sound into new dimensions. Modular synthesis and polyrhythmic percussion create a hypnotic flow that transforms the perception of time.

tptn.temp - Diego Benalcazar

UKHU 002
tptn.temp is the analogue afterimage of my album ‘Tiputini’. Like a side B, a response for it. Where ‘Tiputini’ unfolded through spatialisation and digital finesse, tptn.temp reclaims the raw physicality of sound. Abandoning the virtual and embracing the imperfect, I took the recordings of the Ecuadorian amazon directly to a two-tape machine, sculpting textures through time-based effects, analogue distortion, and tape manipulation.

Tiputini - Diego Benalcazar

UKHU 001
"In 2018, I ventured into the heart of the Ecuadorian Amazon, carrying a couple of microphones and cameras to capture the oldest secrets of the earth and water. During a four-day artistic residency at the Tiputini Biodiversity Station, I explored the depths of the jungle, seeking soundscapes untouched by human influence and extractivism. This experience inspired "Tiputini", where I aimed to contrast the organic composition of the jungle with my own creations."
